
Swerim is a leading industrial research institute within mining engineering, process metallurgy, materials, manufacturing engineering and applications. Laboratory facilities are located in Luleå and Stockholm and offer testbeds and demonstrators for development and verification of production processes and optimization of material properties. The institute has a long history where the oldest part (Metallografiska Institutet) was founded in 1921. Swerim was founded in 2018 when the former Swerea Institutes KIMAB and MEFOS merged.
Role in the project
Swerim is the project coordinator and also highly active in the technological development. The main roles are:
- Project coordinator
- Coordination of the sensor integration process
- Construction of test stations
- Development of the LIBS sensor for the heavy (cut) scrap
- Development of analysis methods for LIBS data
Swerim also supports other work such as the metallurgical verification and exploitation activities.
